HEATHER K. GAINES is a shareholder in the Tucson office. Her real estate practice focuses on sales and acquisitions of commercial property and representation of home-builders in general business matters, real estate acquisitions and construction disputes. Ms. Gaines also represents commercial and residential landlords in negotiating and enforcing leases. In addition to her real estate practice, Ms. Gaines practices in the areas of commercial litigation and transactions and general corporate law, and she has represented school districts and homeowners in significant construction defect litigation. Ms. Gaines has been active for several years in two major school desegregation cases and advises these districts and others with regard to desegregation programs and desegregation budget issues.
Ms. Gaines graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1997, and received her B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona in 1994. Prior to joining the firm in 2000, Ms. Gaines clerked for Judges John Pelander and Joseph Howard of the Arizona Court of Appeals, and practiced with a small civil firm in Tucson. Ms. Gaines is a member of the Pima County Bar Association, the State Bar of Arizona (member, Real Property Section), and the Arizona Women Lawyers’ Association.
