SPENCER A. SMITH is a Shareholder in the Tucson office.  He practices primarily in the areas of construction and real estate law, representing a number of private owners, subcon­tractors, general contractors and school districts. Mr. Smith's practice includes the drafting and negotiation of documents utilized to secure professional services for the planning, programming and design of construction projects and for bidding and construction.  He also negotiates on behalf of his clients with various public entities, utilities, developers and state agencies in connection with the acquisition of sites and the regulatory permitting and construction of projects.  He handles a variety of construction and real estate related matters for his private clients, including litigation of construction and real property disputes.  He received a B.S. in Geological Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1969.  He graduated in 1981 from the University of Arizona Law School.  Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Smith worked for ten years in the construction industry as a contractor and engineer.  Mr. Smith has been a speaker for various industry and legal organizations on the legal aspects of professional engineering practice, Arizona lien statutes, payment and other construction related topics.
