Rob Risley

ROB RISLEY is Of Counsel to the Tucson office. Rob has extensive legal and technical experience in the extractive industries. Working in-house for a major international mining company, Rob managed legal matters for mineral exploration operations in over 20 countries. His practice has focused on negotiation and documentation of company and asset acquisitions, including mineral project earn-in, farm-out, and joint venture transactions with parastatal, major and junior mineral exploration and production companies.
In addition to his work in the mining industry, Rob has represented major lenders in nationwide real estate and commercial financing transactions, and represented developers and industrial interests in Pima County zoning, land use planning and Clean Air Act matters. To support operation of remote US mineral assets, Rob negotiated land host agreements for utility-scale PV solar generating facilities.
While based in Southeast Asia, Rob represented lenders and project companies in non-recourse project-finance transactions involving utility-scale power generation facilities, petroleum-product pipelines, hydropower and other industrial installations. Rob also represented an international investor in the first auto-loan securitization in Thailand, and represented a Southeast Asian sovereign in a forestry reform project sponsored by a multi-lateral lender.
Prior to pursuing a legal career, Rob worked for a major petroleum company as an exploration geologist, largely in Southeast Asia.
