Attorneys Denise M. Bainton and John C. Richardson recently made presentations before the Arizona School Boards Association at meetings in Tucson and Flagstaff. Their topic was the role of public school governing board members in the processes used to terminate the employment of public school employees. The presentation included a discussion of termination procedures applicable to administrators, teachers, and support staff employees.
Ms. Bainton and Mr. Richardson are well-renowned for their expertise in the areas of school law and employment law.
Ms. Bainton is a former teacher, and has represented school districts on a wide variety of issues including litigation involving handicapped students, personnel matters and environmental litigation. She also has represented public and private entities before federal and state administrative agencies and in state and federal court.
Mr. Richardson represents numerous public school districts and community colleges, as well as non- profit and for-profit corporations. On a day-to-day basis, he serves as legal counsel for employers that employ over 5,000 employees in Southern Arizona. While the emphasis of his practice is on preventing and conciliating disputes, Mr. Richardson has frequently been involved in litigation concerning employment and education issues, including an appeal argued to the United States Supreme Court.
