Lisa Anne Smith and Sesaly Stamps, attorneys with DMYL’s Tucson office, are scheduled to appear at two upcoming school law conferences in November to discuss freedom of speech and First Amendment issues arising from social media interactions involving students and school employees.
They will appear November 1, 2012 at the Arizona Charter Schools Conference to present “Whose Right is it Anyway? The Latest Free Speech Controversies Involving Teachers and Students.” The following week, on November 7, they will present “Update: Balancing Free Speech Rights in Social Media While Addressing Cyber-Bullying, Employee Misconduct and More” at the Arizona School Administrator’s Principal & Law Conference.
Ms. Smith, the managing shareholder at the Tucson office, practices primarily in education law, employment law and civil litigation, including employment and discrimination claims, contract disputes, condemnation and construction matters, and tort litigation. She has tried jury and bench trials in state and federal court and has significant experience with state and federal appeals.
Ms. Stamps is a Tucson Associate whose practice emphasizes education law, employment law and commercial litigation. She provides legal representation to employers, school districts and community colleges involving day-to-day advice on a variety of issues including personnel questions, student issues, policy matters, and contractual disputes.
