John Richardson Honored for Contributions to Public Education

DMYL attorney John C. Richardson has been presented with the John R. McDonald Award in recognition of outstanding service to Arizona’s public schools through his practice of law. He received the award September 6, 2012 during the 36th Annual School Law Conference held by the Arizona School Boards Association.

Mr. Richardson was the seventh recipient of the award, which is given yearly to an Arizona attorney whose outstanding contributions to Arizona public education merit high distinction.  The award was established in 2005.  It is named after Mr. McDonald, an education law attorney and past President of the Arizona School Boards Association, who was the first to receive the honor.

Mr. Richardson is a Shareholder with DMYL’s Tucson office.  He has devoted his practice primarily to employment and education law over the past 30 years. He represents numerous public school districts and community colleges, as well as non-profit and for-profit corporations that employ more than 5,000 employees in southern Arizona.  While the emphasis of his practice is on preventing and conciliating disputes, Mr. Richardson has frequently been involved in litigation concerning employment and education issues, including an appeal argued to the United States Supreme Court.
